Cafe Monte Alto is dedicated to protecting the environment that allows us to offer such fine coffees.
The results of a study conducted by the Smithsonian Institution on Ingo Noche’s farm in Peru, discovered 240 species of birds, which they attribute to it being a completely shade grown coffee farm. It takes a little longer for coffee to produce when shade grown, and therefore, a little longer for profits to be returned. Regardless, our commitment is to produce the best coffee in harmony with the environment in which it grows.
Improvements in waste water management through filtering systems have not only drastically reduced amount of fresh water used for the processing of the coffee beans but most importantly when it returns to the main stream it is totally clear! The placement of “recycling bins” throughout the region will teach the farming community an important aspect of conservation.
