Fair Trade

Café Monte Alto is committed to fair pricing at each level in the product chain-sustaining the farmers so availability of fine specialty coffee can continue- while maintaining environmentally sound practices at the agricultural level.

Our families are dedicated to paying farmers a fair price for their coffee, so they, as in the past, can provide for their workers and communities. Most farmers are paid less for a pound of coffee than the average cost of a cup of coffee.  Let farmers make a decent living without depending on donations.

Café Monte Alto is committed to paying farmers a fair price (currently 125% above the commodity market). We are concentrating our sales efforts through direct marketing so we can also ensure a fair price for the end consumer. Café Monte Alto is also committed to coffee people. We are creating a non-profit COOPERU to help workers and their families. For example, we expect to raise $5,000 with our Cup of Goodwill program to renovate a local school in Peru by the end of 2003. Please join us in this effort!
